Research Interest and Expertize:

Dr. Tarendra Lakhankar’s research interests range widely, from the remote sensing application to hydrological and water resources engineering. He worked on several research projects including: developing satellite based flash flood warning system, retrieval of snowpack properties, and understand the effect of climate change on human and livestock population. He is principal investigator of soil moisture and snow research experiments that are designed to develop/improve soil moisture and snow retrieval algorithm using remote sensing data to support NOAA/NASA missions.

Association with agencies and organizations:

Dr. Lakhankar is an active member of multiple international professional organizations and societies like ASCE, AGU, IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society, American Water Resources Association and others. He is also served as Judge, chair and co-chair in National and International Conferences. He is actively involved in reviewing proposals (for NSF, NASA, etc.) and manuscripts for several international journal including International Journal of Remote Sensing, International Journal of Water, Hydrology and Earth System Sciences (HESS), Journal of Geophysical Research, Journal of the American Water Resources Association, etc.
